Anyone else out there with a crazy, large family that screams, and yells, and laughs, and runs, and plays like a bunch of kids? We’re a crew comprised of teachers, sailors, artists, small business owners, scientists, musicians, and explorers. We come together from Florida, Boston, California, New York, Philadelphia, and Rhode Island.
And unfortunately, we just don’t see each other often enough.
After all of us kids grew up in to adults it became harder and harder to find time when we could all gather together as one big family. Sound familiar? I hear this all too often, that families will go long stretches of time without seeing one-another, and when they do, it’s for a wedding or a funeral. We are no exception. So, this August we all gathered together at our family camp in New Hampshire and had a reunion. It was in part to celebrate the life of my grandmother who passed away a year ago, and it was also a great excuse to see reunite for reunion’s sake.
This weekend was important for my whole family, but also to me personally because it marked the first time that my boyfriend would be meeting my family. And not just one or two people… he was meeting everyone. For the most part, I left my camera and phone in the car, opting instead to just live in the moment. It’s so rare that I get to unplug and enjoy the little things, and I really wanted to soak everything in.
I did take a little bit of time to snap a few photos though, so enjoy the Gabeler Family Reunion 2018 edition. Here’s hoping that we celebrate many more, and soon!
